About the Salient Achievements of the Department:   The Master Degree programme in the department started in July 2004. The duration of the Masters programme is two years. First year of the Masters programme deals with training in core courses like genetics, macromolecules, cell biology, biostatistics, molecular biology, enzymology, immunology and biophysics. In the second year students are trained in modern areas of biological sciences that include plant biotechnology, genetic engineering, environmental biotechnology, bioprocess engineering and advances in biotechnology. The final year students at the end of 4th semester undertake short term projects which expose them to the latest research and development in the field of biotechnology. The students also participate in seminars organized by the department from time to time.
