About the Salient Achievements of the Department:   The department was established in the year 2007 along with other 5 departments at the very outset of the establishment of the Campus of the Assam University, Silchar, (a central university) with an intake capacity of 15. However, due to increased demand and inflow of students from various parts of state and country intake capacity in PG course has been increased to 20 from the year 2011. The department has the pride of producing six top ten positions including 1st and 2nd in from the very first batch of its intake. Since year 2009-10 Ph D programme has been started and to date six scholars have been registered for final registration and three for provisional registration. Out of them to scholars expected to submit their thesis by 2013.
