About the Salient Achievements of the Department:   Teaching: This Department has produced 40 N0s. of MVSc and 6 N0s. of Ph. D. students so far. Research: This Department has successfully completed one ICAR Ad Hoc project, 2 NATP projects and one NAIP (Comp: 3) projects. Presently, one AICRP on Poultry Breeding (since last 8 years) and one DBT project (since last 3 years) is going on. In addition P.G research programme on different aspects are also taken up. Extension: This department is actively involved in various activities related to farmers’ interest. The department has completed 2 certificate courses on Poultry Production Technology in association with Satguru Foundation, Hyderabad. Further, this department has successfully completed 2 N0s of Regional Level Farmers-Scientists interaction for the benefit of the farmers inviting more than 350 farmers in each occasion. Variety released: A dual purpose new variety of chicken has been released on 11-02-15 after intensive research under AICRP on Poultry Breeding which is meant for rural farmers of Assam under scavenging condition. Student activities: The students are involved in earn while you learn through experiential leaning on hands on training programmes. Miscellaneous: (i) A package of practice on Poultry Production has been developed by this Department in collaboration with the Directorate of Research (Vety), AAU, Khanapara. (ii) The Department has developed Teaching materials for Diploma Course on Duck production and Management and Layer Production and Management for the Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University, Guwahati in the year 2013.
