About the Salient Achievements of the Department:   The department takes the leading role in the process of NAAC accreditation to UGC. The faculty of the department takes the responsibility of NSS, House functions in Annual sports, Literary meet, etc. Recently, the coordinator proposed the faculty and principal to process for opening of P. G. Course in Life Sciences. Above all the faculty of the department participates in the committees of Planning, Library, Exam and Research etc. The students of the department have got placements in different state and central departments. The department performs training programs on food processing and preservation techniques of local fruits and vegetables which promotes cottage industries to help the state economy to some extent. Elangbam Banapati Devi, retired head of the department deposited Rs. 40,000/- in 2004 in Modern College Merit Award Trust for the award of “Best Graduate in Zoology” every year.
