About the Institution:
Cotton College, the premier Institute of the North-East region of India, was established on 27th May, 1901. It was named after Sir Henry John Stedman Cotton, K.C.S.I, the then Chief Commissioner of Assam under British rule. It has been a Government of Assam Institution from its very inception. Cotton College is currently affiliated to Gauhati University; but it is going to be a constituent college of the newly established Cotton College State University. It is presently a Post Graduate Institution with a faculty strength of 234 and offers facilities for Ph. D. Program. It has been accreditated with grade A (CGPA=3.39) by the NAAC. It has a brigade of 4500 students in its roll. It has 25 Science and Humanities Departments, spread across a sprawling campus of area of about 34 acres.
