About the Institution:
The Thoubal college was established on 8th August, 1963 as a coeducational college. The college has an area of about 15 acres having separate Administrative Block, Library, Play-ground, Hostel facilities for both boys and girls and Laboratory facilities for various subjects with qualified staffs. A study centre of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) i.e. Thoubal College IGNOU Study Centre, 1705 is also opened in the campus of the college. The Thoubal College is now purely a full fledged Government Degree coeducational College having Arts and Science streams with 16 different departments, permanently affiliated to the Gauhati University upto the year 1979 and to the Manipur University from 1980 onwards, recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi under Section 2(f) and 12 (b) of the UGC Act.
