About the School:
Nowgong Government High School ,established on 17thNovember,1865 is completed its 150thyears of establishment in previous year. This glorious institution is one of the oldest Secondary Schools in Assam and it has been playing a vital role in producing a large number of luminaries who brought glory to the country .The school came to the close of the High School status along with its conversion to a Higher Secondary School, now it is known as the Nagaon Govt. Boys’ H.S. School. From the humble beginning with 5 teachers and 23 pupils, it has bloomed into full fledged Higher Secondary School from VI to XII (with science, arts and commerce streams in HS level) with 48 teachers, 11 non-teaching staffs and about 1000 students. Many facilities and opportunity are now available to the pupils in this school. A large number of pupils enjoy free studentship or scholarships or both under different government schemes and other non-government students’ welfare funds.
